A Group Home Filled With Festive Spirit

The festive season arrived in style at one of our group homes, where Dylan and Kenny teamed up to bring Christmas cheer to their group home.

With plenty of enthusiasm, Kenny helped lift and steady the tree while adding bright tinsel and decorations. Dylan, wearing his signature grin, carefully placed each ornament and made sure the red and gold tinsel was wrapped just right. Together, they transformed the room into a warm, glowing celebration of the season.

The highlight came when Kenny proudly placed the sparkling golden star on top of the tree, the perfect finishing touch. By the end of the evening, the tree stood tall and full of personality, reflecting the joy, teamwork, and sense of belonging shared throughout the group home.

A special thank you to Shannon for supporting Dylan and Kenny in creating a festive display that truly captures the spirit of Christmas. Their combined efforts have made the home feel merry, bright, and ready for the countdown to Christmas!

A Day with the Alpacas!

Ray from our Group Homes recently enjoyed a morning full of curiosity, joy, and fresh air at the Canungra Alpaca Farm! From the moment he arrived, his excitement was clear as he watched the alpacas roam freely across the paddocks. A few friendly alpacas even came close to the fence, bringing big smiles and plenty of laughs.

With the support of staff, Ray explored the farm at his own pace, soaking in the peaceful environment and enjoying the gentle company of the animals. The outing offered both fun and relaxation, creating a memorable experience that lifted spirits and sparked genuine happiness.

This adventure is a great example of how meaningful community activities can enhance social participation, encourage engagement, and bring real joy. Ray’s day at the alpaca farm reminds us of the value of experiences that are not just fun, but truly enriching!

Exploring the World and Building Confidence!

Over the past few months, Luke has been embracing new experiences and discovering the world around him through his 1:1 Community Access outings. What began as small steps, gentle encouragement and quiet moments of support has grown into real, visible progress as he connects with others, tries new things and builds confidence at his own pace.

Luke’s interests have been the key to unlocking some incredible adventures. His love of trucks made the Museum of Fire the perfect outing, where he explored fire engines and emergency vehicles up close. A visit to Bankstown Airport brought even more excitement as he watched planes take off, checked out aircraft on the ground and fuelled his curiosity for all things that fly.

These personalised outings have offered more than just fun days out. They’ve helped Luke develop important life skills, grow his independence and begin participating more confidently in his community. With consistent support and encouragement, he is now stepping into small group activities, sharing moments with peers and building connections that once felt out of reach.

We are incredibly proud of Luke and everything he continues to achieve. His journey is a beautiful reminder that when we follow a person’s interests, honour their pace and celebrate every win, wonderful things can happen.

Joey Takes His First Swim!

This week, Joey reached an incredible milestone during his very first swim with Eloma Care — and it was a moment filled with courage, joy, and connection.

Joey joined his friends and sister for a community outing built around confidence-building and trying something new. From the start, he had one clear goal: to swim with his sister, Megan. The idea felt a little daunting at first, but Joey didn’t shy away. With gentle encouragement from his support team, he took a deep breath, trusted himself, and stepped into the water.

What happened next was truly inspiring. Joey’s initial nerves quickly transformed into excitement. With each small success — floating with the help of noodles, kicking confidently, and exploring the water at his own pace — his smile grew bigger and brighter.

Joey’s experience is a beautiful reminder that courage isn’t the absence of fear; it’s the willingness to try. And on this day, Joey showed just how powerful that courage can be.

We’re so proud of you, Joey — and we can’t wait to see where your confidence takes you next!

Spooky Halloween Family Dinner

The Airds and Denham Court group homes joined forces for an extra-spooky Halloween dinner at the Airds Group Home – and what a night it was! Bringing everyone together created the perfect opportunity to make new friends, celebrate, and share memorable moments as one big Eloma family.

Clients embraced the Halloween spirit with creative and fun costumes, adding extra flair to the evening. Laughter, music, games, and plenty of trick-or-treating filled the night with excitement and joy.

Guests enjoyed a delicious feast of pizza, garlic bread, blue jelly, and a variety of sweet treats that kept the energy high all night. Families also joined the fun, sharing smiles and spooky stories alongside the clients.

It was a fantastic celebration, highlighting the magic of community, connection, and a little Halloween fun!

Queensland Respite Adventure!

Matt and Dallin had an unforgettable Respite trip in our Coomera STA home in sunny Queensland!

The trip was all about exploring new places, building independence and confidence, and of course, having plenty of fun along the way.

Throughout their adventure, Matt and Dallin enjoyed choosing their own activities and stepping out of their comfort zones to try new things. One of the highlights was visiting Queensland’s famous theme parks, where the duo had a blast meeting their favourite characters and watching live shows at Movie World.

“My favourite part was meeting the Movie World characters and enjoying the adventure with my best friend,” said Matt.

It was a stay filled with friendship, laughter, and personal growth. It is a great reminder of how much joy comes from trying something new!

Dee and Sharon's Day Out

Housemates Dee and Sharon from our Group Homes (SIL) recently had the best kind of day, one packed with sunshine, laughter, and good vibes at Surfers Paradise. With the amazing support of our Lifestyle Assistants, Steph and Alice, the pair set off for a day of fun and adventure, exploring everything from Timezone to the beach.

With Lifestyle Assistants Steph and Alice by their side, the day kicked off at the bowling alley, where Dee quickly found her groove. Every strike brought cheers and high fives all around, and her huge grin said it all. Sharon joined in on the fun too, celebrating each roll and soaking up the good vibes.

After bowling, the crew made their way to the bumper cars — and that’s when the laughter really took off. Sharon jumped behind the wheel, giggling as she zoomed around and playfully bumped into Steph and the other drivers. Dee was right there cheering her on from the sidelines, proudly giving her housemate a big high five after the ride.

To finish off the day, everyone enjoyed a stroll along the beach and a scoop (or two!) of ice cream by the water.

It was one of those simple, joy-filled days that remind us how special it is to share experiences like these — full of laughter, confidence, and connection.

Making Memories, One Catch at a Time

There’s nothing better than spending a sunny day by the water, and our Campbelltown Eloma Care clients had the best time on a recent fishing trip to Old Ferry Road!

With fishing rods in hand and big smiles all around, everyone settled in along the riverbank to relax, chat, and enjoy the fresh air. There was laughter, teamwork, and plenty of friendly encouragement as we waited for that exciting moment when someone got a bite.

The biggest cheer of the day came when Kristi caught a fish! Her excitement and pride lit up the group, turning the moment into a celebration filled with joy and applause.

It was such a rewarding and fun-filled day for everyone. Trips like this remind us how special it is to connect, build confidence, and make great memories together in the great outdoors.

Finding Strength in Every Punch

For Rikki, what started as a fun way to stay active has turned into something much more meaningful. It’s become a journey of confidence, growth, and resilience.

Since joining his local boxing program, Rikki has been showing up with enthusiasm, gloves on and ready to take on every challenge. Each session gives him the chance to build strength, improve his technique, and develop the focus that boxing requires.

But for Rikki, it’s not just about staying fit. The program has helped him grow in other ways too, teaching discipline, patience, and self-belief. Every round and every word of encouragement from his coaches has helped him feel stronger both inside and out.

His coaches are proud of his effort and attitude. They describe him as focused, respectful, and always there to motivate his teammates. Rikki has become a role model in the gym and a reminder of how far commitment and positivity can take you.

At Eloma Care, we love seeing our participants find activities that bring them joy, confidence, and connection. Rikki’s story is a wonderful example of how trying something new can open the door to personal growth and a stronger sense of community.
