Every Wednesday morning, Jamie from Gaythorne Day Program has been making her mark in the world of bowling! Working as an Assistance Coach with the Special Olympics at Strike Bowling Wintergarden, she works alongside Head Coach Nikki to support the program and ensure each session runs smoothly!
Recently, when Head Coach Nikki went on leave, Jamie was given the exciting opportunity to step into the lead coach role and run the session herself! While taking the lead was initially daunting, Jamie didn’t let her nerves hold her back. She arrived ready to take on the challenge and led the session with confidence, determination, and a positive attitude.
Throughout the morning, Jamie coordinated the bowling session, supported participants, and ensured everything ran smoothly. Her hard work and professionalism certainly didn’t go unnoticed, with several service providers complimenting Jamie on how well she managed the session! With a clear goal of developing skills for paid employment, Jamie has embraced every opportunity to learn, contribute, and build her confidence in a real workplace environment.
For Jamie, this was about so much more than leading a bowling session. It was about stepping outside her comfort zone and discovering what she is capable of. We are incredibly proud of Jamie for embracing this opportunity and showing that with the right support, encouragement, and opportunities, confidence can grow into real-world skills.
