Our day programs are educational and fun, where you will be supported and encouraged to learn new skills, find creative ways to express yourself and keep active. 

All our day programs have activities you can participate in, with changes made every term! We tailor our activities based on what you want to learn, do or try. Activities are tailored to you below is a list of what we currently have this term, with new items added all the time.

COOKING PROGRAMS

A program that’s designed to cover every aspect of cooking a meal. Alternating between entrees, mains and desserts. No two cooking classes are the same!

Starting with what delicious meals will be cooked, shopping and sourcing fresh ingredients, a step by step on how to prepare food and the instructions to become an Eloma mater chef.

IN-HOUSE ZUMBA

Zumba is a fitness program that involves cardio and Latin-inspired dance. Grooving to the beats of salsa, flamenco, and merengue music it will feel more like a dance party than a workout, which is exactly what makes Zumba so popular. The Latin-inspired dance workout is one of the most popular group exercise classes in the world.

SWIMMING

As Australians, we spend a lot of our time in and around the water; it’s a big part of our culture. For this reason, it’s important that our clients learn water safety and survival skills, so that they can continue to enjoy aquatic activities. To help achieve this goal, Eloma run a swimming and Water Safety Program.

COMMUNITY ACCESS

Community access is probably something most people take for granted. After all, most people access their community in various ways: be it through work, hobbies or activities. People do this to give themselves a sense of belonging, an increase in self-esteem and feel they are valued.

ARTS & CRAFTS

A program that is designed to unleash Eloma creativity. Arts and crafts describes a wide variety of activities that involve making and learning skills such as woodworking, painting, sewing, or making things with all sorts of material.

LIBRARY

Benefit from other amazing programs at the library. These days libraries often offer more than just books. Learn to search the system for your favourite books, use the internet, borrow a book, learn about historical facts or simply lose yourself in some story time. Libraries have become a place that goes beyond books.

IN-HOUSE MOVIES

One of the main advantages of watching movies is its ability to improve mood and reduce stress and often the genre of the movie will influence the benefit you receive. Laughing is an instant stress-reliever and movies are a great conversation starter!

CLUB/PUB LUNCH

BOWLING, AQUA GOLF AND LASER TAG

There are great benefits in participating in both bowling and the aqua golf program. Besides being a fun and competitive games, they also offer you numerous health benefits and both are easy to learn sports.

BICYCLE EDUCATION

Bike education can be taught to clients of all ages and all abilities. Bike education sessions teach skill development to clients at an introductory, intermediate and advanced level. The centre features a main road circuit simulating road condition, including road signage and traffic lights.

FISHING

MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES  

Experience being in a gallery or museum with a work of art or a piece of history, you will know that it is a feeling that is hard to replicate. Feel like you have been taken to a different world or travelled back in time. When you start looking at every detail, there is so much to see and learn about.

ANIMAL THERAPY

Animal therapy is the use of animals to help with physical, social, emotional or cognitive functioning. This is sometimes also called pet therapy or animal based assisted therapy. Clients may feel especially safe with animals because these gentle creatures provide a non-judgemental and unbiased environment

IN-HOUSE SENSORY

Sensory play includes any activity that stimulates senses: touch, smell, taste, movement, balance, sight and hearing. Sensory activities facilitate exploration and naturally encourage people to use scientific processes while they play, create, investigate and explore.

TRAVEL TRAINING 

Travel training is provided to Eloma clients who want to equip themselves with the skills to go from the starting point of the trip to the destination and back. Designed with learning about skills and behaviours necessary for independent and safe travel on public transport.

ELOMA FITNESS BASKETBALL, TENNIS & FOOTBALL

Eloma fitness encourages clients to participate in sports on a regular basis and develop a healthy and active lifestyle in a fun and inclusive way. Physical activity or game that aims to use, maintain, or improve physical ability and skills while providing enjoyment to participants and, in some cases, entertainment to spectators. Sports can, through casual or organized participation, improve one's physical health.

BUSH 2 BEACH

The benefits of walking improve cardiac risk factors such as cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, vascular stiffness and inflammation, and mental health. IN HOUSE KARAOKE

Most of us who have enough courage to sing out loud in front of a crowd during karaoke know how much fun it can be but there are also numerous other advantages that it provides. Karaoke helps all participants to come together with others. It is a perfect situation for socialising and enjoying those around you. You can also meet new people and have fun while you are at it.

NATIVE BIRD FEEDING 

The benefit of enjoying their company is the best benefit of feeding native birds. Many birds keep wandering in search of food and water flying high under the burning Sun. Not all of them get rich and favourable surroundings as their habitat. That is one reason their numbers seem going down so fast. Water and food are necessary for all the life forms on the earth.

LEGO THERAPY

Lego therapy is a social development program for our clients. It uses their love of Lego play, as well as their strengths and interests. Lego encourages interaction with each other’s through collaborative play. Clients who might not be keen to go to a social group might go to a Lego group. The shared focus on building uses their strengths and helps them practise communication and social skills while having fun.

SENSORY GARDEN

Time in contact with nature contributes to and improves the mental and physical wellbeing of individuals. Spending time in the garden helps by lifting your mood. The meditation, relaxation and the invigorating opportunities the garden offers can also assist with stress reduction. It promotes good mental health and a great opportunity to see things grow from seedling to beautiful flowers, fruit or vegetables.

AFRICAN DRUMMING

African drumming is detailed skill and we aim to teach these rhythms in a fun and creative way. It is a profound instrument and has respect all over the world. We want to give Eloma clients the opportunity to learn not only this beautiful rich culture, but the rhythms and dances from Africa.
